At the 2010 East Coast Music Awards, I was hopping on stage as Dave Gunning was hopping off. We were chatting about the guitars he uses, and he mentioned the rep from the company was down to check out some music. And he also said the guy was interested in talking to me! So over the course of the weekend, between a few gigs, I was able to spend a bit of time talking with Roger Schmidt, the rep from Stonebridge about their guitars and mandolins.
I had already heard and played Dave's guitars, and I had used JP Cormier's mandolins on my album. So he had an easy time selling me on the idea of playing their instruments.
I've had a Grand Auditorium guitar, now playing a Dreadnought, and recently acquired a Baritone Guitar from the Stonebridge store in Kitchener, Ontario. It is a big growly monster and I can't wait to record with it!
I've been playing all kinds of guitars over the years, and I can tell you that you will have a hard time finding this kind of quality and tone for this kind of price anywhere else. You should check 'em out. At one point, I was a dealer for Stonebridge, though my busy schedule made that hard to keep up. These days, I'm not an official dealer anymore, but I'm more than happy to answer questions about the instruments, and put you in touch with the right folks.
